Dover Raceway Radical Invasion – April 18, 2022. 8am – 5pm
“Gates open at 8am”. It’s been a long time since Dover fans have heard those words, but on April 18, 2022, the ‘Radical Invasion’ will takeover the grounds of Dover Raceway. This year’s title sponsors are Amsoil and 24Karat Premium Extra Stout.
As previously mentioned gates will open at 8am and the event will end at 5pm.
In an interview with Outsteppe, President of the Jamaica Racer Driver’s Club (JRDC) Junior Barnes set the scene as being one of hope and optimism for the future of Dover in Jamaica.
He expressed that the event organizers are ensuring and fine tuning preparation for the event so that it runs smoothly. Mr. Barnes said that there will be no requirement for vaccination nor to present a negative COVID test, all you need to do is buy your ticket and come and enjoy yourself.
In tandem with the health and safety protocols, venue capacity will be at 70%, masking will be required and sanitisation stations will also be set up. Furthermore, this time around there will not be usual ‘kiddie’s village’ attraction.
Also, Mr. Barnes said that the move to have these measures was out of the desire to protect the health and safety of their patrons.
The JRDC team will make an announcement in the coming weeks regarding the price for entrance, but Mr. Barnes has made assurance that the cost for entrance will be close to the 2019 pricing range.
The pricing initiative is aimed at ensuring everyone will have the chance to come and enjoy a day full of action and excitement.

Expectations
Mr. Barnes told Outsteppe that they are expecting 80 racers to compete throughout the day across their various classes. For those who are unaware or are just getting into car racing, each class will have 3 races.
“For the level of promotion we are undertaking, on the day of the event, we expect bumper to bumper traffic to enter the venue. After 2 years with eager racers who have acquired a lot of fast cars, I do expect for the Dover Track record to be broken,” Mr. Barnes expressed.
He continued, “We want all fans to come out, there will be food and drinks on sale and lots and lots of giveaways.”
William Myers, one of Jamaica’s most formidable racers told Outsteppe that he and his team are ready for an exiting day of racing.
“It has been a long two years but I am extremely happy that Dover is coming back this Easter. This is a very exciting time for not only myself as I get to finally race my new Radical SR8, but also for all the other drivers and of course, the fans who are eager for racing to resume. This will be a very exciting event since teams had more than enough time to get their cars ready so I believe this will be a race meet like no other. Can’t wait to see all the fans out at the track again!”
Mr. Barnes on behalf of the Dover event organizers wants to thank all our sponsors (Amsoil, 24Karat Premium, Bushtrails, Lubit, Tile City, Sherwin Williams, May Pen Ice and Texaco) for sticking with us, fans for waiting patiently and JRDC members for supporting us over past couple years.
