A lot has happened since the last update. With only a few days left, promising more action and possibly more disappointments, here is a run down of what has happened since we last wrote.
First, here is the schedule for the upcoming semi finals.
Matteo Berrettini and Hubert Hurkacz will be going head to head in the first semi-finals match which will be played on Friday at Center Court. Hubert ended Roger Federer’s attempt to win his 9thWimbledon title by knocking him out of the competition.
Still in the competition is Novak Djokovic. Novak is one of the most consistent and impressive tennis athletes of the 21stCentury, who seems to be on a clear path to win the championship.
Novak will be playing Denis Shapovalov in the 2nd semi-final. It will also be contested on Friday.
In any given tennis match only the more composed athlete will be victorious. Therefore, the match can go to either Novak or Denis.
How did Denis Shapovalov reach the semi-finals?
In the quarter-finals, Shapovalov played a match with Karen Khachanov in which he won 6-4, 3-6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-1. Earlier in round 3, the world number 10, eliminated Andy Murray, former world number 1, in straight sets.
In the round of 16, Shapovalov ended Roberto Bautista Agut’s run for the Wimbledon champion by winning his match 6-1, 6-3, 7-5.
How did Matteo Berrettini reach to the semi-finals?
Playing in the Round of 16, Berrettini played Ilya Ivashka. He won with straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4. Later in the quarter-finals, the world number 7, played Felix Auger Aliassime and won with a 6-3, 5-7, 7-5, 6-3 score card.
