Alexander Zverev wins 5th ATP Masters with a clean run in the Cincinnati Open

Alexander Zverev is the winner of the Cincinnati Open/ Western and Southern Open. This comes on the heels of him taking the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics.

Zverev glided past Andrey Rublev, 6-2, 6-3, to win the finals in fine style. This is his 5thATP masters 1000 title.

Zverev fired 6 aces and won 93 percent of his 1stserve plays.

Even though Rublev served 11 aces, he only managed to win 61 percent of his 1stserve shots.

The day before, Alexander Zverev managed to hold off Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-6, 3-6, 7-6.

Overall, Alexander Zverev is tied in 9th place for the most amount of ATP masters 1000 titles held. He holds 5 titles alongside Boris Becker, Jim Courier, Gustavo Kuerten, Marcelo Rios, Andy Roddick and Marat Safin.

However, he is still far behind Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal who holds 36 titles each.

In his on court interview, Zverev said, “It has been an incredible week, a lot of great matches. It is an incredible feeling going into the US Open.”

Zverev who ended Novak Djokovic’s ability to obtain the Golden slam this calendar year by defeating him in the Tokyo Olympics semi-final match, is looking forward to an eventful US Open.
